Central Park Sessions- Boy in the City!

This little guy was so full of fun and energy that was truly infectious!  I had a great time photographing mom and son in Central Park- and seeing the park through his eyes.

He especially loved the boats…

…but Mom got some love too!

It was a beautiful day in the park!

Ashley Layfield Photography On-Location in NYC!

I had the opportunity to photograph 4 amazing families in New York City this past weekend, and it was fantastic!  The weather in New York City was beautiful and the families were even more so.  I have a lot to catch up on with the blog, but first I had to share a promised sneak peek for this lovely family I photographed in Riverside Park on the Upper West Side.

I first had the privilege of photographing these twin girls when they were 3 months old in Pikesville, MD last year, and they certainly have grown into beautiful toddlers!

I can’t wait to share the rest of the images with this family! For the rest of my NYC families- you’re up next!

Baby Loves Disco in Towson, Maryland!

In lieu of Flashback Friday I bring you some photos from the fun and laughter at Baby Loves Disco last Sunday! The event was a great success, as evidenced by the non stop dancing by both the kids and the parents. If anyone is visiting who attended Baby Loves Disco and wants me to email them when the gallery is ready or with a password reminder, email me at ashleylayfieldphotography@gmail.com

Wee-Cycle Photo Contest!

I had a lot of fun photographing the many, many adorable children that came by my table at the Wee-Cycle Mart event last Saturday.  To the Wee-Cycle parents- you have been patient, thank you!  There were many photos to go through and the finalists are below, chosen randomly.

Please vote for your favorite photo below- the winner will receive a on-location session with me and the Digital Collection, which includes all of the digital files, a session album with 5×7 prints, and a print enlargement.

Voting will close at 11:59 PM on Thursday, March 12th.

Ashley Layfield Photography at Harford County’s Wee-Cycle Event

If you have kids, know someone who does, or are now pregnant, you will want to check out the Wee-Cycle Mart Event at the Havre de Grace Community Center February 26th-March 1st.  This event features vendors of all kinds focusing on moms, kids, and families and you will have an opportunity to browse new or like new items for sale for your little one.

I will be there on Friday and Saturday to photograph all of those gorgeous babies and children for the Harford County Wee-Cycle photo contest.  Have your children’s photo taken for free and be entered to win a photography package valued at over $400.  All of the prize package details will be given to the participants at the Wee-Cycle event.  I will also be offering special packages if you are interested in ordering the photos I take of your child that day.

Ashley Layfield Photography will have a table for all 4 days of the event, so stop by and pick up information, look at product samples, and receive a session fee discount for booking a session that day!

Information on the event, hours, directions, etc can be found at the Harford County Wee-Cycle site:

Hope to see you there!

Adour at the St. Regis Hotel

Somehow this portrait photographer has become an event photographer!  My heart is still with portraits (and good thing because there are more to come in Nov/Dec!) but photographing events is more interesting than I originally thought it would be.  Meeting people coming together for business ventures, corporate retreats, conferences- people at the top of their professional game- is inspiring and really fun as well.

I am usually not able to share photos of the people attending the events, but I do like to share photos of the scene here as I can!

Monday night I was at the St. Regis Hotel in Washington D.C. (that seems to be another theme lately for me!) for an event held at the amazing Adour Restaurant.

While the rest of the St. Regis hotel is decidedly traditional and gilded, Adour is dark, sleek, and modern.  I had fun with this mirrored wall opposite the extensive wine selection.

Supreme Honor

Last night, on a night that made history, a night that will change the course of America for all time, a night that was so emotional for so many, I had my own once in a lifetime experience.

I photographed an event at the United States Supreme Court with Justice Stephen Breyer, who gave an inspiring and very informative (not to mention funny) talk in the Supreme Court courtroom.  Cameras were not permitted in the courtroom itself, but I was thrilled to take photos elsewhere outside and inside for the event.

Last night, first standing in the Supreme Court in our nation’s captial and then sitting at home with my husband watching Barack Obama be announced the 44th President of the United States, I couldn’t have been a prouder American.  I hope that we can come together as a nation no matter who you supported in the election, to help right this course that has been so stormy of late.

Yours truly in front of the courtroom- taken by the lovely Megan of This Chick is Fascinating
